Creative Kiddos

The kids created some cute things this week...

 

Cati learned to crochet a little more than a month ago. She made one thing following a pattern. Now she's decided she doesn't need a pattern (anyone who really knows Cati will not find this surprising - she's always been a creative, independent, marches-to-the-beat-of-her-own-drummer kind of gal). She's been creating all kinds of little critters this week on her own. Here's a small sample.

Chiara's Art Show

Yesterday was the last day of homeschool classes for the kids at St. Vincent for this semester. Chiara's art class hosted an art show for the parents to see their work. She was so excited about this the whole week leading up to it. It was so cute! Here are some pictures of the show:

Observational Drawing

Sometimes in the evenings after supper is cleaned up and little ones are bathed, we have a little down time. So, we have started using some of that time to do some observational drawing. Someone picks an object and we sit down together and draw. I draw along with them because it's more fun for all of us. If I were to just tell them to go draw, it would become an assignment rather than fun family time.

Even Elena comes to draw with us. She doesn't try to draw the object we're drawing, but she very intensely works on her paper for quite a while.
