Fun on a hot Sunday
This past Sunday the temps got up to 90 degrees! That's pretty hot for us here in PA. Normally, temps in the summer stay around 80 degrees. The kids spent some time in the afternoon playing in the sprinklers.

Product Review: Meet John XXIII
My lastest product to review from The Catholic Company is Meet John XXIII - Joyful Pope and Father to All by Patricia Treece.
This book was such a joy to read! Some biographies can be only a dull recitation of facts about a person. However, this book is full of personal stories of the life of Pope John XXIII, and I really felt like I "knew" him by the end. I enjoyed picking up this book each day and reading more about him. This book left me with a smile on my face and a real feeling of hope that we have such a Blessed soul in heaven praying for us, especially one who loved peace and unity as he did. I highly recommend reading this book!

Homeschool Week 7/27 - 8/5
Here are a few of the things that the girls completed during the last week and a half before Anna arrived...
In history, Maria read about some English and French explorers of North America. Here are a couple of narrations that she wrote about them:
Here are some notes that Maria took as she learned about heat transfer.
In history, Cati learned about the beginning of monasteries and their role in the preservation of written books. Here is a narration she wrote about Sts. Benedict and Scholastica.
Here is a page that she "illuminated" like handwritten books used to be.
Cati learned about "The Reasons for the Seasons" in science. I don't have a picture of her doing the experiment, but here is the written work for the lesson.

We will be a taking a nice 3 week break from school while Anna is here, so no more homeschool posts for a while :) But, I'll try to post about the other fun things we'll be doing!!

Welcome, Zia Anna!
Dany's sister, Anna, arrived yesterday evening from Italy! We get to enjoy her company for 3 weeks!
Chiara was a bit stand-offish last night, but she's quickly warming up this morning.
